Juniper Moon Farm

Not so long ago, Susan Gibbs left a career as a network news producer in New York City in search of something more authentic. A chance encounter with a book about raising sheep sealed her fate. With a great deal of hard work and a towering stack of How-to-Farm books, Susan developed a flock of registered Angora Goats, registered Cormo, Cotswold and Babydoll Southdown sheep.

Today, Juniper Moon Farm is home to a herd of lovely angora goats, some well-spoiled sheep, three Maremma livestock guardian dogs, and the world's first yarn CSA. Our farm practices humane animal husbandry, we are a "predator friendly", and none of our animals are ever sold for meat. The sheep and goats graze on organic pasture 9 months out of the year.

Our CSA is a bit different, as it's all fiber from our animals rather than the produce people have come to expect. Shares are sold well before the shearing. After shearing, the fiber is processed at a small mill into the yarn and spinning fiber requested by our shareholders. Upon its delivery to us, we will send it to you!

CSA Details:

Season:  Year round
Type: Single farm
Since: 2005
Full Share: Half, Full, and Double shares are available, with the amount of fiber received varying based on many factors such as size of the flock, the weather, and the clip.
