Jim Slone For Congress

4TH Congressional District

About Jim Slone

Jim Slone is the grandson of a coal miner and of a farmer. He understands what it's like to owe your soul to the company store. Jim's family instilled a hard work ethic in him from a young age. He was the first of his family to attend college (Lorain County Community College), while working as a salesman at General Electric Appliance Center in Elyria. Like so many of his generation, Jim followed in his father's footsteps and went to work at General Motors in 1967.

Beginning in 1981, Jim was appointed alternate committeeman for UAW Local 1005 and held that position until 1987. While serving as committeeman, he was elected in 1986 as Treasurer to that same Local's Executive Board Committee where he responsibly managed over $1,000,000 of that Local's finances. In 1989 He was elected Trustee to the Lorain County CAP Council. The International UAW and the General Motors Plant Management Team appointed him as Quality Network Representative in 1991, making him responsible for implementing 38 different strategies into the Parma Ohio Plant Production. As a part of his training, Jim was certified in conflict resolution which is essential to resolving conflicts by identifying issues, exploring options, and implementing solutions. For over 30 years,  Jim worked very closely and was responsible for the training, safety, and the overall well being of his fellow union members and coworkers. He is currently the president of the Lorain County UAW/CAP.

Jim is highly visible and active in civic as well as community organizations throughout Lorain County. His desire to be on the front lines leading the battle to defend the middle class is relentless. He is passionate about the issues that affect everyday working people and he places a tremendous priority on restoring hope and repairing the American Dream.
