Mission:

The mission of J.E J. Moore Middle School, in partnership with the community, is to provide a quality educational program in a safe environment, to assist each student in reaching his/her potential, and to prepare students to be responsible, productive citizens in a diverse and ever-changing society.

History:

The Prince George County School Board constructed J.E.J. Moore Middle School in 1957. The original plant, which was named J.E.J. Moore High School, housed grades five through twelve, and consisted of a two story brick building with twenty-one classrooms, a general office, library, vocational shop, teacher’s lounge, a gymnatorium, and home economics facilities.

In 1966, the Prince George County School Board changed the organizational structure of the secondary schools in the county. Prince George High School, which housed grades nine through twelve, was changed to house grades ten through twelve and J.E.J. Moore High School was changed to Prince George Junior High School to house grades eight and nine. Due to the increased enrollment, it was necessary to add four classrooms to the original plant.

In 1977, the school was reorganized and renamed J.E.J. Moore Junior High School. In 1993, the School Board adopted the middle school concept and currently J. E. J. Moore houses grades six & seven.
In 1998 a new J.E.J. Moore was constructed on land one half mile south of the original building. This state of the art building will satisfy the needs of Prince George for years to come.
