Izaak Walton League of America Lancaster Red Rose Chapter

The Chapter was formed in 1954 and purchased its current homesite- Waltonian Pines, near Schaefferstown, in 1965. The Chapter's history has been one of strong interest in promoting outdoor education and enthusiasm for the outdoors through the recreational resources that Waltonian Pines offers.

Waltonian Pines is situated on 52 areas of fields, woods, and wetlands, and has 2 stocked fish ponds, a rifle and pistol range, a rudimentary clay bird range, a nature trail (Eagle Scout project), regulated shooting grounds for pheasant and chukar, a clubhouse and a resource center (36 foot trailer) that includes a museum of over 120 mounted birds and animals and approximately 150 books and numerous journals and brochures on outdoor sports and environmental issues. .As Ike-minded conservationists, we are continually developing our chapter facilities; namely developing our pheasant habitat (32 acres in the CRP program); teaching hunter safety; improving and stocking our 2 fish ponds; conducting fishing programs for youth, Scouts, Seniors and Veterans from the VA Hospital; tree planting-particularly restablishment of disease resistant Chestnut trees; sponsoring Lebanon and Lancaster County youth and Scout  and Pack Troop events and conducting annual youth pheasant hunts.
