History of Independence Christian Church

Our church dates back to 1837. The founding members began meeting at a community meeting house, until the first church was built in 1897. That building was replaced in 1972 with the church that still stands today.

As you enter the doors of our church, you open the door to our hearts. We are a family united by faith and fellowship, and we celebrate together by coming to the Lord’s table each week. All are welcome to receive Communion.

Gathering for worship is just one of the manyways we serve as faithful followers.  We join hands with other Christians in service by fundraising and providing for others in our community. We collect aluminum cans for Habitat for Humanity, provide goods and funding to ACES, collect aluminum tabs for the Ronald McDonald House, and hold special collection projects for Samaritan’s Purse and Ashland Convalescent Center.
