It shall be the primary mission of the Holbrook Fire Department to provide fire, rescue, emergency medical services and a range of programs designed to protect the lives and property of the inhabitants of the town of Holbrook from the adverse effects of fires, sudden medical emergencies or exposure to dangerous conditions created by either man or nature.

It is our intention to: Mitigate or minimize hazardous conditions at fires / emergencies and to provide the highest standard of patient care available.

It is the desire of the Holbrook FD to provide and to operate the highest possible levels of safety and health for all members, The prevention and reduction of accidents, injuries and occupational illness are goals of our department and shall be primary considerations at all times. This concern for safety and health applies to all members of the fire department and to any other persons who might be involved in fire department activities.

The Department is a completely separate organization established as a New York State not-for-profit corporation. The Department was established in 1927, and is an all volunteer organization whose purpose is the protection of life and property from fire and other emergencies. Under the direction of the Board of Fire Commissioners, the Chief is responsible for all department activities. In addition to the Chief, there are two assistant chiefs who help the Chief carry out the duties of the Fire Chief. Each company has a Captain and Lieutenant that are responsible for the daily functioning of the company. These officers oversee the membership and provide supervision at an emergency scene. The officers report to the Chiefs.

The Chief and Assistant Chief's are the command officers of the Holbrook Fire Department. They are in charge of all emergency operations and insure the Fire Department is always ready to respond. During an emergency operation, the Chief and Assistant Chiefs are responsible for the safe and efficient operations of the department and overall scene control. They coordinate and manage the responding units and outside agencies for alarms. Operations are carried out within a Departmental Standard Operational Guide that meets all federal, state and local governing body's laws, standards, rules and regulations.

The Chiefs must insure that all resources of the agency are maintained constancy. This includes insuring the continual training of the members, inspection and maintenance of equipment and administrating multiple programs that benefit the community and membership.
