We believe Highland School is a place where preschool through fifth grade students will be given a variety of educational opportunities to help them learn and grow academically, emotionally, and socially. We also believe our educational program is designed to address the wide variation in physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development of our students. We provide opportunities for student involvement and experiences in accepting responsibility and self-direction. Our program has a strong academic focus which emphasizes development of basic skills and exploration within a context of respect for individual differences in interest, ability, needs and learning styles. A safe and orderly environment where an atmosphere that is conductive to learning is always maintained. We have high expectations and standards for students, faculty and parents, and exhibit a sense of community with good support and cooperation among students, faculty, parents, and the citizens of Vallejo. This results in a school where respect is the main characteristic. Respect among all individuals making up the Highland community will be evident at all times. Our staff will continue to foster and maintain positive interaction between staff members and positive constructive problem solving and respect for each other.
