About Us:

Hartford Upper Elementary is home to our district's 4th and 5th grade students.  For the 2018-19 school year, we have approximately 345 students between the two grade levels. We have an amazing staff that works tirelessly to serve all kids in our building.  Over the past two years, we have been spending a lot of time working with our students and staff on what it means to be an "assessment capable learner".  This term means that we are able to answer the following three questions:  Where am I going?  How am I going? and Where to next?.  We have also had a big focus on having a growth mindset.  We want our students and staff to understand that learning (and life) can be difficult at times.  We can either give up (fixed mindset) or persevere through the tough times and come out stronger than ever.  When we are struggling, we refer to this as being in the "pit".  All students and staff know that if we are not in the pit at school, we are not learning at the levels we are capable of learning.  

Finally, we take great pride in creating a strong family community at Hartford.  We are able to get to know our kids and families on a personal level and work hard to develop those strong relationships.
