Hallowell Elementary School

200 Maple Avenue
215-672-0510

Hallowell Elementary School opened in 1961. It is built on land sold to the School District of Hatboro-Horsham by the U.S. Government for $1.00 with the stipulation that the land be used for educational purposes.

Hallowell is named after a prominent Horsham family whose farm was believed to have included this land back in the early 1800's. The area around the school and around the Hallowell's old farmhouse, which is across from the Willow Grove Naval Air Station entrance, is often called the "Hallowell" section of Horsham Township.
