Groton Country Club

94 Lovers Lane, PO Box 302
978-448-3996

Originally a farm house built in 1690 the Groton Country Club has been mentioned in many of Groton's history books as one of the early garrison houses the first settlers used to protect themselves when the Indians attacked.

In 1925 the farm land was turned into a golf course, the tale is told the owner at the time Mr. Sherlaw built the golf course with a team of horses and simple equipment because his wife loved the game.

In 1954 Charlie and Peggy Elwood bought the home and course and turned into Groton Country Club. The Farm house had an addition added on to it so the Elwood's could accommodate events and parties.
