Granny's Garden School develops, promotes and supports hands-on learning experiences through a four year, school-based, garden and nature focused program to help children experience nature, to feel the satisfaction of growing their own food and to appreciate the simple pleasure of picking a flower.

Granny's Garden School is much more than gardens on school grounds; we use whatever is at hand to turn school grounds into outdoor classrooms.  These resources are the tools we use to give first-fourth grade students the opportunity to learn from hands-on experience as they interact with the natural world - as part of their school day.

Granny's Garden School's professional Garden Educators (many former teachers) make it possible for classroom teachers to take advantage of this valuable resource.  Equipped with our standards aligned, nature based lesson plans, Garden Educators recruit and organize volunteers, pull together materials and tools, guide the class through each activity (with the classroom teacher assisting) and clean up afterward.

At Loveland Primary and Elementary Schools (program established 2002), we developed more than 100 vegetable gardens, lots of flower gardens and a ¾ mile nature trail that serves 1,400 students.

At Stewart Elementary School, in the Princeton School District (program established 2014) we currently have 45 vegetable gardens, a nature trail and two small flower gardens that serve about 700 students.  We also offer an after school garden club and summer program at this location.
