Grace and Truth Bible Church

770 NorthEast Rogahn Street
503-693-8351

History:

Grace and Truth Bible Church began as Heritage Baptist Church in November of 1994. The first service was held at a hotel conference room with fifteen people in attendance. Pastor Michael Irwin and his wife, Jamie, were sent by Open Door Baptist Missions after becoming burdened to plant a church in the Pacific Northwest. They were assisted by Antone and Stefanie Goyak who shared the Irwins' burden. A year after that first service, twenty members signed the church charter.Front of Northern Tier Business Park church building.

In 1999, GTBC moved to Northern Tier Business Park next to the Hillsboro Airport and initially occupied one office suite. In 2001, we expanded into the adjacent suite and extensively remodeled the warehouse to include sanctuary space, offices, and classrooms. Grace & Truth became self-supporting in May of 2002.

The founding pastor moved in August 2004 to fill a new ministry role at a church on the east coast. GTBC embarked on a faith-building, body-strengthening time of searching for a new pastor. During the pastoral search, the church was blessed by both financial and spiritual growth. Less than a year later, Mike Hanafee began his ministry as pastor here in July 2005. In 2006, God led GTBC to create a Pastoral Intern position which is currently filled by Chad Asire.

Heritage Baptist Church became Grace & Truth Bible Church in November of 2007 in order to more accurately identify ourselves to the community. The same month also marked our thirteenth anniversary of existence. Grace & Truth Bible Church remains an independent church and is not associated with any particular association or affiliation.

In January of 2008, the Lord graciously provided a leased facility for His glory at an established church building on 770 NE Rogahn Street in Hillsboro! The leadership of GTBC had been actively searching for a new location for over two years to allow for greater growth and ministry space. We are excited about our new location and look forward to using it as our base of outreach as we seek a permanent church home. Sola dei gloria!
