Governor Mifflin Middle School

Honored as President Bush's 280th Point of Light for the student council's work with Easter Seals, the Middle School is home to over 700 grade 7 and 8 students. In addition to its challenging curriculum, this school also offers an extensive club and intramural program. Students follow a six-day cycle for classes and can participate in athletics, band, orchestra, choral groups, yearbook, student council, and other activities.

The Governor Mifflin Middle School also has a high degree of installed technology. The building has four computers labs where students use the machines in learning new applications, for process writing, for mathematics and science curricula, for Internet use, and for research.

The Governor Mifflin Middle School believes that:

  • Students should be educated within an environment that encourages ethical conduct and common values shared by the community
  • Students should be provided with an appropriate educational environment where they may develop to their fullest potential
  • Students should experience a curriculum that is challenging, integrative and exploratory.
  • Students should be provided with the knowledge and skills necessary to become successful at the high school level.
  • Successful students require on-going support from family, community, and school.
  • Students and staff should work together in providing a safe, secure environment structured for learning and promoting self-esteem.
  • Students should explore a variety of career pathways.
