Artistic Director Michael Vaughn has a vision for bringing a unique arts identity to Fishers, creating a concert experience that is like no other. While performing masterworks written for more petite ensembles, he has also programmed jazz and new age music by composers such as local gem, Becky Archibald, whose music is frequently heard on NPR's All Things Considered, and who will be the featured guest artist for our premiere season opener in October 2006.

The Fishers Chamber Players is the culmination of the long held dreams of co-founders, Michael and Nana Vaughn. The idea began to take root in 1998, when they formed a small ensemble of nine professional musicians to perform a fund raising concert at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Indianapolis. The concert was an extraordinary success, and there was much hope by both the musicians and patrons that the ensemble would develop into a regular concert series. However, life circumstances got in the way the couple gave birth to their first child one month after the concert, and since then they have had two more children. But they kept the dream alive in their hearts, waiting for the right time.

Lifelong Hoosiers, and Fishers residents since 2000, Michael and Nana have been active musicians, subbing in the Indianapolis Symphony and Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, while also serving as musical leaders in regional orchestras throughout Indiana. While traveling to cities like Muncie and Richmond to play in ensembles there, they felt it a shame that a wonderful, vibrant town like Fishers did not have a professional musical ensemble of its own. And so, the dream began to take shape.

In 2005, the two of them began to take steps to make the dream come true. When contacted, many of the musicians from that original concert in 1998 were very much interested in participating in the Fishers Chamber Players. Made up some of the finest professional musicians in Indiana, we think the high artistic level of our group will be one that will be quickly admired throughout the region.

As the groundwork is laid to make our premiere season a reality, we hope it will be the first of many seasons of providing enjoyment and inspiration in the wonderful town of Fishers, Indiana!
