About Us:

Fellowship Baptist Church was founded in 1986 with the purpose of glorifying God and reaching the Allegheny-Clarion Valley with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are an independent Baptist Church that holds to the fundamentals of the faith but with the grace and love of Christ.

We Believe:

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, inerrant, eternal Word of God and capable of changing lives by the power of God.

We believe that God is a Trinity--one God consisting of three Persons: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ) and God the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19). We believe He is holy, completely set apart from sin (I Peter 1:15-16; James 1:13); infinite, without limitation (Job 42:1-2; Jeremiah 23:24); and eternal, without beginning or end (Psalm 90:2). We believe He created everything in six literal days for His purposes and His glory (Genesis 1).

We believe Jesus Christ, God in the flesh (Hebrews 1:8), was born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14), lived a sinless life (Hebrews 4:15; II Corinthians 5:21), died on a cross for the sins of the world (Romans 5:8; I Peter 2:24), and rose again on the third day.

We believe all men to be sinners (Romans 3:23; 5:12), and placing one's faith in Jesus to save him is the only way to avoid a literal hell, be forgiven of sin, and go to heaven some day (John 14:6; Acts 4:12; Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 10:9). By exercising such faith, a person is born again, and his salvation is eternally secure (John 10:28; Romans 8:38-39; Hebrews 13:5). We believe that the Holy Spirit is active today by dwelling in and empowering those who are born again in Christ (I Corinthians 6:19; Galatians 5:22; Ephesians 5:18). We believe tongues-speaking and the Charismatic movement to be false views of the Holy Spirit's ministry today.

We believe in and practice two ordinances: baptism and the Lord's Supper. We do not believe that baptism is necessary for salvation, but we do believe it to be an important step of obeying God following conversion. We believe in baptism by immersion as an identification with Christ and a testimony to other believers of one's new life in Christ (Acts 2:41; 8:35-37; Romans 6:3-4; Colossians 2:12). We believe Jesus instituted the Lord's Supper, and we observe it regularly in remembrance of Who He is and what He did for us on the cross. We do not believe the bread and juice are or become the literal body and blood of Christ but are pictures of the body and blood He sacrificed for us.

We believe that at any moment Jesus will appear in the sky to rapture His church to heaven (I Thessalonians 4:17-18; I Corinthians 15:51-52), after which will be a seven-year period of tribulation on the earth (Revelation 6-19; Daniel 9:24). Following these seven years, Jesus will return to the earth to set up His kingdom and rule here for 1,000 years (Revelation 19:11-16; 20:4-6; Mark 8:38; Acts 1:11). Eternity will then begin with all people either forever enjoying heaven with God or forever suffering torment in hell.
