Emmett Kelly Historical Museum

The Emmett Kelly Historical Museum was dedicated to the fond memory of Emmett Kelly Sr. and officially opened it's doors for the first time on June 23, 1967.

Emmett Kelly, Sr. was born on December 9, 1898 at the Missouri Pacific Railroad section house to Thomas and Molly Kelly. Thomas, Emmett's father was the section chief for the railroad. Molly was returning home to Sedan, from visiting her mother and family in Dexter, Kansas for Thanksgiving when she went into labor. Emmett would grow up to become the World Renowned and Most Famous Circus Clown, "Weary Willy", with the Ringling Brothers - Barnum and Baily Circus.

In the Emmett Kelly Historical Museum you will find Emmett Kelly, Sr. and other Clown displays, local period pictures of people and places, historical displays, time period dresses, old printers and radios, and aa large collection of bottles.
Plan a long visit, you will be amazed of all the collections.

The 2017 Summer season will begin May 23rd and continue through September 1st. Doors will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00am to 5:00pm.
