The indebtedness on this project was a great challenge through the years of the depression, but by faithful and sacrificial service and giving, the congregation was able to hold a note burning service freeing the congregation of debt for the first time since 1927 on Sunday, December 9, 1945, under the pastorate of Rev. Stewart F. Bingman.

In 1948, under the pastorate of Rev. Charles A. Russ, a garage was erected. The year 1956, under the pastorate of Rev. Lewis O. Paulhamus, saw extensive remodeling to Emmanuel Church. The goal of completing the basement under the main auditorium became a reality. The Primary Department was relocated in the new room with classes being divided by folding doors. The room, equipped with a stage, became a multi-purpose room. A kitchen, rest rooms, and storage space were provided. A fire escape was installed to provide emergency exits for the second floor and balcony.

In June 1968, Emmanuel Evangelical United Brethren Church became Emmanuel United Methodist Church as a result of the merger between Evangelical United Brethren and Methodist denominations in Dallas, Texas.
