Elkins Park Volunteer Fire Company, formerly known as the Old York Road Fire Company located at 7818 Montgomery Avenue dates back to 1892. Although the equipment and apparatus has changed over the years, one thing remains constant, that's the dedication of the membership who volunteer their time, energy, and in one instance, their life.

Our history portrays significant events of our organization from the formation to its current existence. Our 32 member active company and 21 member Board of Directors today consist of Lawyers, Police Officers, Doctors, Contractors, Medical Technicians, Utility Workers, Professors, Financial Consultants, and many others. More importantly, they are also Fathers, Mothers, Sons, Daughters, Brothers, Sisters, Grandparents, and so on. They are our heroes, and we hope that you will consider them your heroes too.

As you look through our members list, take note of the years of service each has given to protect you, your loved ones, and your property. We only ask for your support as we continue to provide fire protection to our Community.

The Elkins Park Volunteer Fire Company, District #3 is one of five Volunteer Fire Company districts within the Township of Cheltenham which provide fire protection, community education, and fire prevention measures to the residents, businesses, schools, and commuters in Montgomery County.

Elkins Park 's Fire District is connected to Philadelphia on the southern edge of the Township and Abington Township on the northern edge. It's primary response district travels east to New Second Street and to the West as far as York Road , although through mutual aid agreements, frequently responds to neighboring fire districts, such as the Cheltenham Hook and Ladder Company, Ogontz Fire Company, Lamott Fire Company, and Glenside Fire Company, as well as numerous other neighboring Township Fire Companies for support.

The Elkins Park Fire Company, has continuously served the residents of Melrose Park and Elkins Park since 1892 as volunteers and has provided the community with an experienced, dedicated, professional firefighter staff capable of handling all types of fire related emergencies.

The Elkins Park Fire Company is proud of its history, honors its tradition, respects the talents of its members, and looks forward to continuing the best fire protection in the County.
