The El Paso County Historical Society Exists To:

- Study local El Paso and El Paso County History
- Foster local research
- Acquire and preserve historical documents and archives
- Make collections available to the public for research and information
- Encourage historical writing and publication
- Maintain and restore the Richard F. Burges House, home of the Society
