Draper Historical Society

12441 South 900 East
801-495-3476

The Draper Historical Society was organized in October of 1980 with the aim of preserving and promoting Draper's history. Draper was settled in 1849, just two years after the Mormon Pioneers entered the Salt Lake Valley. The city has gone through various name changes over the years. Local native americans called this end of the valley Sivogah. Other names followed such as South Willow Creek, Draperville (named after the first Presiding Elder in town, William Draper) and finally the name was shortened to Draper. We welcome you to visit our library and museum to enjoy some of the wealth of information that we have to offer. Admission is always free, and we invite you to share your thoughts and observations as you spend an afternoon browing through our growing collection.
