Our History:
The Daniels College of Business was established in 1908 as the School of Commerce, Accounts and Finance. It is the eighth oldest collegiate business school in the country.

In 1989, Bill Daniels, cable television pioneer and Denver entrepreneur, presented the University of Denver with a challenge grant to update the graduate business curriculum. The goal was to create a program that would not only provide students high-quality professional skills, but would also integrate the development of characteristics and abilities necessary for successful leadership. The redesigned graduate program combines traditional disciplines such as finance, management, and marketing with the development of crucial leadership skills to provide a real-world perspective for real-world success. Teaching “teams” make the approach successful along with the use of case studies and extensive training in technological business tools. To take elements of learning beyond theory, challenging issues such as values, creativity and teamwork are addressed.

The Daniels College of Business is accredited by AACSB International. It was accredited for undergraduate studies in 1923 and for graduate studies in 1966 and has since been continuously accredited. The most recent reaffirmation of accreditation was in 2000.

In 1994, faculty unanimously voted recommending that the name be changed to the Daniels College of Business in recognition of Bill Daniels support of and continued interest in the College.
