Connect Your Community

Connect Your Community (CYC) is a 2 year, non-profit program funded through the federal stimulus package. The program has two main goals:   1. To teach basic computer skills with an emphasis on meaningful broadband internet use. (i.e. online banking and bill pay, checking your child's progress in school, filling out job applications and creating a resume, and online education and training)   2. To connect at least 1800 people in Lorain County to the internet through broadband technology. Anyone, 18 or older, is eligible to enroll in our free computer training. Upon graduation, students will receive a free, refurbished desktop computer to keep and low-cost to no-cost broadband internet for the duration of the grant. The 25 hour program consists of 10 hours of computer basics, 5 hours of internet security, 8 hours of electives specific to the student's interest, and 2 hours of home connect courses. Classes are taught at 4 locations: The Oberlin Boys and Girls Club, the Oberlin Senior Center, Zion CDC, and Lorain County J.V.S.     TO ENROLL, or FOR QUESTIONS, Call: 440-366-7292
