Clear Creek Christian Church

History:

In the year 1838, twenty friends and neighbors began to meet in a home on the Lord's Day to share their love of God and worship together. This was the beginning of the Clear Creek Christian Church. In 1847, when the congregation had grown to eighty-five members, they built a red brick, rectangular building to serve as their house of worship. In 1916, after the congregation had grown to over 200 believers, a fire destroyed the building, but not the hope of these believers. In 1917 -- just one year and one day after the old building had burnt, a new building was dedicated free of debt.

In the early 1930's an annex was built on for Bible School classes, along with a cistern and baptistry. Then in 1952, it became necessary to add on more classrooms. This was when the limestone education building was added onto the church.

Many improvements and additions have been made to the building over the years. Every few years a new building program is needed. In 1992, the Christian Life Center was built and the education building was renovated to improve offices and classrooms. As recently as 1998, we added seven classrooms onto the Christian Life Center, completely renovating the sanctuary in the church building, and renovated the basement of the education building.

Until 1920, the church was led by part-time ministers. Since 1920, we have had thirteen full-time ministers.

The life of the church is one of change and growth. But the one constant in the church is the focus on our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and our determination in using His Word, the Bible, as our source of guidance in all matters. We are blessed to be a growing congregation and to be an influence on our community. But none of this could occur without the guiding hand of God. He alone strengthens the ties that bind the Clear Creek Christian Church.
