About Clarke County School District:

The Clarke County School District has built a tradition of achievement in academics, athletics, and the arts. We take pride in providing students and their families a safe, nurturing, and challenging learning environment. We're excited about the promise of new ideas and new initiatives that will help create even better schools for the students and families we serve.

Those who don't know about the Clarke County School District firsthand may be surprised by our accomplishments, such as our impressive annual list of National Merit Semifinalists or the many other accolades our students and teachers receive each year. But we're not surprised. We're working hard to create schools that stand with the best, public or private.

The Clarke County School District offers students and their families:

A safe, engaging, and challenging learning environment
Strong home/school partnerships
Highly qualified, innovative and dedicated teachers

A Commitment to Safety

The Clarke County School District believes that in order for students to achieve optimum learning, they must first feel safe and secure. We maintain an environment that mandates zero tolerance for weapons. We strive to maintain schools free of all forms of intimidation, bullying, and harassment. We help every child to feel accepted and secure so that learning is the focus of each day.

A Commitment to Achievement

We are committed to creating a learning environment in which all students value, seek and achieve academic success. Our focus is the individual needs of each child: from the advanced student to those with special needs and all students in-between. Our expectations are high, but we realize no two students come to school with the same needs. Our goal is to equip each student with the tools to become responsible citizens and lifelong learners.

A Commitment to Diversity

Athens is a diverse community, and so too are its schools. This diversity brings a rich tapestry of cultures to the schools and community and provides a rainbow of learning opportunities for all. Our students represent more than 25 languages and cultures. Every effort is made in our schools and classrooms to build greater understanding of and appreciation for the strength in our diversity. As American public education pioneer Horace Mann said more than 100 years ago, "Education is best provided in schools embracing children of all religious, social, and ethnic backgrounds."
