About Us:

Families and businesses thrive in the City of Westlake, Ohio, making it much more than a just a location on the western edge of Cuyahoga County a mile south of Lake Erie. It is a perfect place to live, learn, work, and play. Downtown Cleveland is a 15-minute commute and access to much of northern Ohio is easy via I-90 and I-480.

We have more than 32,000 citizens, vibrant businesses, scenic parks and recreational areas, exceptional city services and safety forces, outstanding restaurants and shopping including Crocker Park. Residents have many housing options: neighborhoods of single family homes, condominiums, townhomes, cluster homes, and apartments. Several independent living, assisted living and nursing home facilities are also located within the city. Westlake’s income tax rate at 1.5%, with a 100% credit up to 1.5%, is one of the lowest in Cuyahoga County.

Our community is committed to quality education. We have a highly rated public school system. Cleveland State University and Cuyahoga Community College have campuses with other well-known colleges and universities nearby. Westlake Porter Library is one of the leading lending libraries in the nation.

An active business community and a responsive Planning and Economic Development Department work together to create a strong economic environment. Westlake’s largest employers include Hyland Software, American Greetings, Equity Trust, Nordson Corporation, TravelCenters of America, USG Interiors, and Q-Lab. In fact, several businesses listed on the Weatherhead 100 are found here. University Hospitals St. John Medical Center and satellite operations for Cleveland Clinic Health System and University Hospital Health Care System are also located in the city.

Our proud heritage and promising future make Westlake a top community in Northeast Ohio.
