City of Shepherd

11020 Highway 150
936-628-3305

About Us :

The historic City of Shepherd was founded in 1875 by Benjamin A. Shepherd, an early investor in the Houston East and West Railroad. Other early pioneers included: Dr. William Herbert Beazley, Mrs. Jessie Fain, Mrs. Jane Langham, James Ephraim Tribe, and Robert Scott Lovett. As a historic city in Southeast Texas, Shepherd was once at the center of the lumber industry due to its magnificent pine trees. It currently serves beautifully as the home of outdoor enthusiasts, Houston commuters, local entrepreneurs, and a large population of retirees. As home of Big Creek Scenic Area, as well as being the Southernmost Gateway to Lake Livingston, you'll love the small country charm, and close proximity to the big city glamour of Houston. Your family and your business are always welcome in our city!
