City Of Paola

19 East Peoria
913-259-3600

Paola is a charming community with 150 years of history. It is located about twenty minutes south of the Kansas City metropolitan area on US Highway 169 in Miami County, the second fastest growing county in Kansas. Paola is the County Seat for Miami County.

While in Paola, be sure to visit our beautiful Historic Downtown Park Square. In the 1800's the Park Square was a gathering place for the local Indian tribes, a track for horse racing, parades, celebrations, Patterson Circus performances, and simply a place to spend a great afternoon visiting with friends.

In the center of our Historic Park Square you will find a picturesque fountain and an enchanting Victorian Gazebo. The Gazebo has seen many romantic weddings since its early beginnings. The original Gazebo was actually a Bandstand, and it was built in 1867. The current Gazebo was designed by architect, George Washburn, and completed in 1913. Paola's Downtown Square is flanked with unique shops and great restaurants.

In addition to our historic downtown, Paola boasts an additional business district along the Baptiste Drive corridor. Here you will find everything to stock your pantry at the Price Chopper or at the Super Wal-Mart. This district offers many solutions for your household and farm needs, a good selection of restaurants, and all of the other necessities of daily life - banks, insurance, real estate, automobile sales & service, and many others.

Paola is also home to several medical services providers as well as the Miami County Medical Center that is owned and operated by the Olathe Health Systems, Inc. This modern facility was completed in 1996 and continues to expand the quality services that it provides to our area.
