History:

Mount Auburn was founded in 1870 with the building of the Burlington, Cedar rapids and Minnesota Railway, but was not platted until June 19, 1871. The site of the community is on a high, broad hill originally owned by Milton S. Hall and Thomas D. Lewis. By 1910, Mt. Auburn has a weekly newspaper, a stable savings bank, several substantial businesses and a well managed telephone exchange.
