Community Vision :

A vision statement identifies where an organization (the City of Monroe) intends to be in the future and how to best meet the future needs of its stakeholders: citizens. The vision statement incorporates a shared understanding of the nature and purpose of the organization and uses this understanding to move towards a greater purpose together. SWWRPC, in conjunction with UWEX-Green County, sponsored visioning sessions for each jurisdiction in the autumn and winter of 2003-2004. The City of Monroe's Planning Commission utilized the visioning information from these sessions to create a formal vision statement. The vision statement for the City of Monroe is: The City Of Monroe: Continues to protect and enhance the historical value of its courthouse square; while providing opportunities for compatible and cooperating businesses that make the downtown a viable center for commerce and tourism.
