Founded in 1839 as Marine Mills, Marine on St Croix is home to approximately 700 residents. Marine is located along the scenic St. Croix River 12 miles north of Stillwater and 15 miles south of Taylors Falls. Built in 1888, the Marine Village Hall is the oldest government building in the state still being used for governmental purposes. It is currently used for City Offices, City Council, Planning Commission meetings and houses the community library.
