CITRUS HEIGHTS-RELAY FOR LIFE-FOR CANCER-Form a team to participate in this years Relay for Life on June 9th & 10th held at the San Juan High School-McArthur Field. This is 24 hour walk-a-thon, to raise funds and awareness for cancer. Many of us have had friends and family that have been affected by cancer. The community of Citrus Heights would like to work together to help fight this awful disease. During the 24-hour period each team has a relay member on the track. Some team members can choose to just walk just a one-hour shift, or take several shifts thru out the day. We hope to have large enough teams to have 2 or 3 members on the track at a time, so you can walk with one of your buddies. When not on the track walking, there are activities going on all day and night. From bounce houses for the kids, games, Entertainment, dancing, etc. You can also bring your tent and sleeping bag and camp on the field with the rest of us. There are numerous ways you can help with this cause. 1) You can join any team as a relayer, and ask family and friends to sponsor you. 2) You can sponsor our any team or one of our relayers, 3) You can purchase luminarias for $10 each to dedicate to a friend or loved one who has been affected by cancer. 4) Your company can be an event sponsor for $500 on up. 5) Attend the Relay as a guest to show your support. The two major events there are at 10:00 am on 06/09/07 is the opening ceremony and ‘Cancer Survivor Lap’. At 9:00 pm is the Luminaria Lighting Ceremony. It is a carnival like atmosphere, with booths for each team, that they are selling food, candy, gifts, and raffle tickets to raise additional funds for cancer. So please bring the whole family. 6) If you or a family member is a survivor of cancer, please volunteer to participate in the ‘Cancer Survivor Lap’. You will receive a continental breakfast that morning along with a Cancer Survivor T-Shirt.
