Mission Statement
The office of the Faith Formation of the Parish of St. Ann, Avon, Connecticut, exists to support our parish in understanding God's word, working toward full, conscious and active participation in common worship and the rendering of service, in the name of Jesus Christ, in everyday life.

The Ministry of Catechisis
The word catechesis refers to all those activities and experiences that enable people to grow in their personal faith life within the community of faith. (National Catechetical Directory, 32-33) Catechesis then is a lifelong process that aims to make the faith of each individual real, meaningful and alive through instruction, prayer, and social action. Parish catechetical ministry has the following elements: Parents are the first catechists. Through parents, faith is first handed on. Parishioners called to be catechists, support and extend the parents' role. The entire parish community takes on the role of catechist in its witness in common worship, service and the living of everyday life as followers of Jesus.

Our catechetical program makes connections between the home and the parish, between family life and parish life, between family gatherings and the Sunday assembly.
