History:
Christ Lutheran Church was organized in 1893 by a small group of families. The original church building was begun in 1894 at a cost of $800.00. In 1900, a search for a new parsonage was begun and a house was purchased and moved near the church. In the early 1900s, a barn was built near the church and a bushel of potatoes was planted for the pastor’s use. In 1911, a new church was built to replace the old one as it had become too small! In 1925, a new parsonage was built. During this year, new confirmands were allowed to answer their confirmation questions in English or German. In 1935, the basement of parsonage was cemented and electric lights installed. 1943 and 1947 saw a new basement placed under the church structure and the enlargement of the north end of the building by 18 feet. In 1958, a 36’ X 60’ addition was added to the church. The 1970s brought a new two car garage for the parsonage. A major remodeling project that added a narthex, library, and a chair-lift elevator was completed in 1981. In 1993, Christ Lutheran celebrated its 100th Anniversary by raising $100,000.00 which was donated to various mission churches. In 1996, Christ Lutheran saw another expansion project with the addition of a new fellowship hall, kitchen, Sunday School rooms, church office and pastor’s office. In 2004, a new steel roof was installed on the entire church building. Also in 2006 the church parsonage underwent a $100,000 makeover.
