Chelsea Fire Pipes And Drums

307 Chestnut Street
617-889-8615

Located just north of Boston, in Chelsea Massachusetts, the Chelsea Fire Pipes and Drums was created when a Chelsea Firefighter by the name of George MacFarlane decided that it was time for our department to have it's own means of providing musical solace for the funerals of brother Firefighters.

The Chelsea Fire Department takes pride in it's long and illustrious reputation. Well noted as an aggressive and dedicated department, for more than two centuries our firefighters have exemplified the words Duty and Commitment. This could not be more obvious than in our Color Guard and Band: of the ninety men comprising the Chelsea Fire Department, forty are members of the band or color guard.

The CFD Pipes and Drums have grown to include several Professional Firefighters from Fire Departments around the area including Hudson New Hampshire, Nashua New Hampshire, Reading Massachusetts, Saugus Massachusetts, Belmont Massachusetts and Medford Massachusetts. Any Professional Firefighter interested is encouraged to join our band.

Since its inception in 2000 the band has been taught by pipe instructor Cindy Carrancho and drum instructor Archie Florentino. Cindy is a well known instructor and grade 1 piper playing for over 15 years. Cindy and Archie both play for the grade 2 pipe band Tulach Ard.

In a manner that is steeped in the tradition of the Fire Service, The Chelsea Fire Pipes and Drums now offer their services to other communities for their Line of Duty death funerals and memorials, as well as all types of celebratory events.
