Carney Improvement Association

PO Box 28282
410-668-5183

The Carney Improvement Association symbolizes the basic goals of the organization.

The border of the crest is a single rope, no knots, no splices, indicating total and complete unity and little chance of a weak spot in which to fray.

The background is the Maryland flag, which is also the foundation for the Baltimore County flag and crest. Carney is proud to share Maryland's rich history and future.

The Bald Eagle, a long standing symbol of our nation's strength reflects Craney's support and dedication to our country and the organization's strength through the application of the principles on which our country is based.

The Shield, a symbol of protection, stands for the protection of our citizens the Association in sworn to keep paramount.

The compass rose star serves two purposes. First, since the 1300's, this star has been used on every major chart made. Harford Road, our major north / south highway, and Joppa Road, our main east / west thoroughfare, have both served as major routes of travel for centuries. Carney has served as a major junction, represented by the center of the star. The second significance is that of a "shining star", giving direction and guidance.

Lastly, the emphasis of the color green. With overdevelopment being such a concern of our community, we strive to preserve as much "green" space as we can. It is our desire to save as much grass and trees as we can in order to maintain the quality of life so many of use used as a reason for living in Carney.
