Carbon Valley Recreation District, formed in 1983, is a special district covering roughly 45 square miles, including the communities of Frederick, Firestone, Dacono and rural areas that surround the

Tri-Towns. A seven-person Board of Directors, elected from seven wards within the District boundaries, governs the district. The current Board of Directors includes William Kinney, Roger Trujillo,

Jennifer Urban, Robyn Posey, Philip Gooras, Ronald Koger and Mike Seele. The Recreation District employs four full-time staff members, numerous part-time and seasonal employees and many wonderful volunteer coaches. The management staff includes Renee' Witty, Operations Manager; Linda Kudrna, Recreation Director; Cherri Williams, Aquatics Director; Devona Gooras, Facility Director and Pat Sharp, Gymnastics Director. In 1986 voters approved a General Obligation Bond, with complete payment in 2002, for the construction of the Carbon Valley

Recreation Center, which is located at 701 5th Street in Frederick (within close proximity to both Frederick Elementary and Middle/Senior High Schools). The 11,300 square foot facility is currently under construction to expand to 50,00 square feet and due to be complete for opening on March 1, 2004. The district currently utilizes four ball fields for its youth baseball, youth softball and adult softball programs. Fields are located at Frederick, Firestone, City of Dacono and the Frederick High School.
