Brownsville Missionary Baptist Church

Main Street
270-597-2812

The History of BMBC :

Less than a decade after the Civil War, in 1874, a group of Christians were organized as the United Baptist Church of Brownsville, Kentucky. They were a group of “sincere, sturdy, God-fearing pioneers who worshipped in old Edmonson County log Courthouse.”
Three church buildings, thirty-eight pastors, and countless members comprise the history of Brownsville Missionary Baptist Church. In 1999, we thanked God for the opportunity to celebrate our 125th anniversary as a church.

God has truly blessed Brownsville and we pray that He will continue to use us as a lighthouse, not only to Edmonson County but to the entire world as well.

What We Believe

We believe in the infallible, verbal inspiration of the whole Bible and that the Bible is the all-sufficient rule of faith and practice.

We believe in the trinity of God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, equal in divine perfection .

We believe in the Genesis account of Creation.

We believe that Satan is a fallen angel, the enemy of both God and man, the present ruler of this world, and that his destiny is eternal damnation in the lake of fire .

We believe in the virgin birth and sinless humanity of Jesus Christ .

We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ.

We believe the Holy Spirit is the divine Administrator for Jesus Christ in His churches.

We believe that Man was created in the image of God and lived in innocency until he fell by his own transgression from his sinless state, the result being that all mankind are sinners.

We believe that the suffering and death of Jesus Christ was substitutionary for all mankind and is only to those who believe.

We believe in the bodily resurrection and ascension of Christ and the bodily resurrection of His saints.

We believe in the personal, bodily return of Christ. This event will include the resurrection of the righteous to eternal heaven, and the thousand-year reign will be followed by the resurrection of the unrighteous unto eternal punishment in the lake of fire and that the righteous shall enter into the heaven age.

We believe that the depraved sinner is saved wholly by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, and the requirements for personal salvation are repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ , and that the Holy Spirit convicts sinners, regenerates, seals, secures, and indwells every believer .

We believe that all who trust Jesus Christ for salvation are eternally secure in Him and will not perish.

We believe that Jesus Christ established His church during His ministry on earth and that it is always a local, visible assembly of scripturally baptized believers who purpose to carry out the Commission of the Lord Jesus Christ, and each church is an independent, self-governing body. We believe that Jesus Christ gave the Great Commission to the New Testament churches with the promise that their work would see them through till His return.

We believe that there are two pictorial ordinances in the Lord's churches: scriptural Baptism by immersion and the Lord's Supper.

We believe that there are two divinely appointed offices in a church, pastors and deacons, to be filled by men whose qualifications are set forth in Titus and 1 Timothy.
