BCCC Who we are and accomplishments:

BCCC came into existence in September of 1992. The mission of the organization is to represent all Chambers of Commerce that are within the boundaries of the Town of Brookhaven. To support the vast numbers of businesses and professionals who are members of these Chambers in a uniform voice on common issues and concerns.

The Coalition has sponsored seminars to help aid small businesses. The latest an employment job fair held in cooperation with the Small Business Development Corp.

They have lobbied within the Town to strengthen the Peddlers and Vendors Laws and were helpful in updating the Town’s sign ordinance codes.

For 4 years the BCCC marketed and promoted “Celebrate Main Street America” campaign. To help stimulate local shopping in January when traditionally shopping is slow.

For the past 6 years they have hosted a Networking Event, that encourages the interaction from business to business. This successful night acts as a trade show and is open to all.

Took a stance on the banning of smoking in public restaurants and presented a position paper to the Suffolk County Legislative.

Annually, in April the Coalition celebrates honoring their choice for “Outstanding Member of the Year “award.

Created a shopping decal in support of local shopping and solidarity. Showing the savings, service, satisfaction and support are all valid reasons you should support your local business community.

And for the last 3 years has given our a $500 scholarship to a senior high school student who is planning to continue their education in business.
