History
Bible Baptist Church had its beginnings under the name of Tabernacle Baptist Church in a basement at 3rd & Orchard in the fall of 1950. Dr. Wally Williams was the founding pastor.

As the church began to grow through its infant stage, the church moved several times in a search for better meeting facilities. It wasn’t until 1973 under the leadership of Pastor James Sadler that the church purchased the property at the corner of Chestnut & Baker, the current location of the church.

In January of 1976, the church called Rev. Ray Brinson as their pastor. After much prayer and stepping out by faith, groundbreaking services were held in March of 1979. On Sunday, November 4, 1979 the church had a dedication service for their new building. Pastor Brinson served Bible Baptist Church until the time of his departure in 1994. Dr. Bill Whitfield was the most recent pastor of Bible Baptist Church from 1994 until June of 1999 when he announced his retirement from the pastorate.

In 2000 the church called Bro. Kent Hogan, who is currently serving as pastor.

Bible Baptist Church continues to thrive in the heritage with which they began; to love and minister to the people of the Carthage area, lead souls to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and to help build families and thus a better community for a Coming Lord. Bible Baptist Church is “A Going Church, Growing Families, Sharing Christ”.
