Mission

The mission of the Barrington School System is to provide the community with a positive learning environment.

Our students need to know that they are loved, valued, and respected.

Our students need academic and life skills, as well as practical opportunities to use and integrate them into the fabric of their daily lives for problem solving, for adapting to change, and for creating change as individuals and as citizens.

Our students need to become contributing and intellectually active members of our society with an understanding of community values, democratic principles, and social justice.

About Us

BES has a student population of 470, grades pre K-4. Class sizes are very favorable and students have a variety of Unified Arts (library, computer, PE, music, and art). Grade 4 students have access to band. BES has a contract with a local provider that oversees a before and after school program. In addition, for a nominal fee, students have the opportunity to enroll in after school enrichment activities.

This is the third year of a three-year implementation of Tufts University affiliated Learn to Read by Reading (LRR) program. All our staff has had substantial LRR training and our students' growth in reading has been heartwarming. For several years, BES has been using the Everyday Math program. There are computers in every classroom and a large computer lab.

BES is an intern site for the University of New Hampshire. Four to six interns spend a year at BES refining their teaching skills. At the conclusion of the year, they receive their Masters Degree.
