Our Vision:

The Rev. Ralph Lee first organized the Bakerstown United Methodist Church in 1832, and the church was built in 1938 on the property that is now Bakerstown Presbyterian Church and it still stands today.  Once the membership outgrew the small church, the decision was made to purchase land (at our current location) to allow for expansion.  Once erected on the current site, Bakerstown UMC held its first service in December 1959.  As the church continued to grow, long-term building plans were made.  The education wing was added in 1973 to accomodate the growing number of children, youth and families in our congregation as well as the growing community.  More additions came in 1995 and 2000.  The new sanctuary was the centerpiece of the next building phase, completed in April 2001.  The new sanctuary, with its balcony allows for seating of up to 500.

The architectural design allows for a sense of togetherness and community while in worship.  The additions of state of the art sound and visual equipment enhances ways the congregation can experience worship.  Modifications and upgrades were made to both the upper and lower education wings.  Finally, the large multi-purpose Fellowship Hall and fully equipped kitchen is the perfect setting for a family party, a wedding reception, or even square dancing and church sponsered yard sales.  We made the necessary modifications and added an elevator to allow for handicap accessibility.  Landscaping, and expanded parking added beauty and convenience.  Now, we have a congregation who seeks to keep alive the vision for ministry now and in years ahead.  These most recent building additions allow us the opportunity to grow into the future - come see the program additions to the church as well!
