Atlanta Junior Rowing Association

245 Azalea Drive

Mission:

The mission of the Atlanta Junior Rowing Association remains:

To engage high school athletes in the Olympic sport of rowing

To instill and enhance the athlete’s self-esteem, self-discipline, team reliance and fitness

To provide a competitive, supportive, athletic experience

The Atlanta Junior Rowing Association seeks to foster personal growth among area middle/high school athletes through the sport of competitive rowing.  Participation at the developmental, novice, and varsity levels introduces athletes to the sport, to competition and ultimately to themselves as they continue to define what they are capable of achieving.  Our goal is for coxswains and rowers to go on to successful careers and personal lives influenced in no small part by the ethic, discipline, time management and goal setting skills they develop on and off the water with AJRA.  At the same time, we want our athletes to experience the deep friendships that result from shared work and sacrifice and the incredible feelings of fulfillment and fun that follow the achievement of challenging and meaningful goals.

About Us:

Atlanta Junior Rowing Association was founded in 1988 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit club sport dedicated to providing rowing opportunities for high school students throughout Metro Atlanta. The program started as a small club rowing out of the Atlanta Rowing Club’s boathouse. By the late 1990s, AJRA had grown so much that it needed its own boathouse. In the fall of 2000, the club negotiated with the City of Roswell to construct a boathouse at its present address on Azalea Drive.  AJRA has since grown in size and today has more than 200 rowers from middle schools and high schools throughout the Atlanta area.  Celebrating its 28th year of rowing on the Chattahoochee with the 2015-16 season, AJRA is the largest and most successful high school rowing program in Georgia.

High schools represented include Roswell, Walton, Johns Creek, Milton, Cambridge, Northview, Pope, Centennial, Milton, Galloway, Alpharetta, Blessed Trinity, Mount Vernon, Westminster, Woodward and many others.
