About Us

The Apple Valley Unified School District serves over 14,725 students in grades kindergarten through twelfth grade. The schools in the District have shown continual growth in student achievement during the past seven years. Student achievement is a primary mission of AVUSD.

The District also operates 9 state pre-school programs on five sites serving over 300 pre-school students in a standards based curriculum.

The District operates an Alternative Education Program that is serving almost 600 students providing an alternative setting for students to achieve the content standards and graduate from the District.

The District employs over 1450 people in the certificated and classified services.

Due to intensive population growth in Apple Valley, the construction of three new schools to alleviate overcrowding is underway. Sitting Bull Elementary School and Sitting Bull Middle School are expected to open in August 2006. The Vanguard Preparatory expansion will also be completed for the fall of 2006.
