The Angleton Volunteer Fire Department was formed to protect and serve the citizens of Angleton, Texas along with all surrounding rural areas. The members also work extremely close with neighboring fire departments to protect the citizens within Brazoria County, Texas.

Along with the highly visible services of fire fighting and rescue, the Department also provides other services such as assisting local police, EMS, and Life Flight services; bomb protection; hazardous materials response; and fire prevention education.

All members of the Angleton Volunteer Fire Department are volunteers and do what they do out of their love for their neighbors and community. Each member endures many hours of ongoing training to obtain their state certification to be a Certified Volunteer Fire Fighter. This level of certification helps ensure that the department provides the highest level of service to their community.

The number of certified fire fighters along with the type of equipment used by the Department are 2 major factors that the State of Texas uses to calculate the insurance ratings to determine home owners' insurance rates. Angleton has one of the best ratings in Brazoria County. This level of fire protection could never have been reached without the strong support of the citizens and the city government of Angleton.

The members' equipment is supplied by the strong support of the City of Angleton along with generous donations from the citizens. Along with yearly one time donations, the citizens of Angleton also show their support by making monthly donations by paying a little extra on their water bill. Without this high level of support from the City of Angleton and the citizens themselves, the Angleton Volunteer Fire Department would not be considered one the best volunteer departments in the nation.
