The American Red Cross engages over 200,000 youth annually in the areas of education, training, volunteer and community service. The Willamette Chapter ensures that we are doing our part by offering unique and exciting opportunities to get youth involved throughout Lincoln, Marion, and Polk counties providing emergency, disaster, and leadership development training and opportunities. 

Youth ages 11 (middle school) and up including college and university young people are eligible for membership in an American Red Cross Campus Club.  In 2009-2010 students from West Salem High School, McKay High School, South Salem High, Blanchett, North High participated in community service projects for Marion Polk Food Share, American Cancer Society - Relay For Life, and raised funds for the Haiti earthquake relief effort.

The purpose of the American Red Cross youth program is to train youth to become lifelong advocates of volunteerism as a  part of a balanced life.  As a result of running their own Red Cross Club, they become an integral part in positive change within their communities and the world in which they live.  Youth Council and Red Cross Clubs expose youth to the mission and the fundamental principles of the American Red Cross, enabling them to help us meet the challenge those principles represent.  In so doing they also learn how to better manage their time, lead a group of their peers, and sustain professional working relationships with Adult Mentors and Advisor's.
