Nowashe Village receives TWO National Awards!

The American Association for State and Local History (AASLH) has selected the Friends of Wood Memorial Library and Museum as a recipient of the History in Progress (HIP) Award and Award of Excellence for Nowashe Village, and we will be traveling to Buffalo, NY, to the annual conference to accept them!

The HIP Award is given at the discretion of the AASLH Awards Committee, and is an additional award chosen from amongst the winners of Award of Excellence awards, which recognizes specific projects that are "highly inspirational, exhibits exceptional scholarship, and/or is exceedingly entrepreneurial in terms of funding, partnerships, collaborations, creative problem solving, unusual project design, or inclusiveness." This year, AASLH will be presenting 53 national awards representing 31 states and Canada. Only 5% or fewer of the total number of Award of Excellence winners can be given the HIP Award, and we are one of only four organizations to receive it!

THANK YOU to EVERYONE who has been involved with Nowashe Village from the start. THANK YOU to all of the volunteers, Indigenous educators, donors, and visitors to Nowashe.  THANK YOU to all of the agencies, organizations and other supporters who have contributed their time, talents and legal tender to this project.  All of you have been a part of its success. We could not have done it without you!
