Check out the map of planter locations, visit Our interactive planter map!
The planters are filled with pollinator-friendly plants and Butterfly Weed -Milkweed- the only host plant for the Monarch. If you see an eaten stalk in the planter, you’ll know that a Monarch has made a home! Pictures of planters will be uploaded here and on our Facebook page by July 9.
Designers, artisans, and local gardening enthusiasts will be crafting butterfly-friendly planters from a variety of unusual items.
The Upcycled Planter Challenge kicks off on July 9th with our Windsor Monarch Festival from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm where we'll have an Eco-Friendly Artisan Market on the town green, and lots of activities around the center including an Electric Vehicle and Electric Bicycle showcase, Children's Pollinator Parade at 10:30, Chairy Orchard display, Rock Painting, Crafts and activities as well as a paint party by Irene’s Traveling Paint Parties at 2:00 pm at Bart's, and lots more!
July 9 - 22, vote online for your favorite planter! The designer with the most votes will receive a prize! You’ll also have the unique opportunity to take one of these artistic, one-of-a-kind planters home by bidding for it in the online auction on Facebook! Voting and auction will be found on the First Town Downtown Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/firsttowndowntown. Starting bid $50. $5 increments. Planters must be picked up by July 23rd.
