Just about every day is a special day

and this week is a special week

Yesterday, we celebrated a brand-new federal holiday, Juneteenth, (short for “June Nineteenth”), which marked the effective end of slavery in the United States.

And there are several other things to celebrate this week.

Selfie Day - Jun 21

Summer Begins - Jun 21

Summer Solstice - Jun 21

Onion Rings Day - Jun 22

Int'l Women in Engineering Day - Jun 23

Take Your Dog to Work Day - Jun 24

Global Beatles Day - Jun 25

Fun Fact: The last time a new federal holiday was added was in 1983 when President Reagan signed the bill to make Martin Luther King's birthday a holiday.

Last Week Was a Week to Remember

We had two events and so much fun -- first, our 35th Annual Golf Tournament at member Norton Country Club on Monday and then a multi-chamber event at member Norwood Space Center on Thursday. In case you weren't there, here are some photos. Thank you, Andy Heller of Heller Photography, and Kim Beck of K Beck Support Services, for taking pictures at the golf tournament. Here's a sample.

Left to Right: Our photographer Andy Heller getting just the right angle; The Homes for Our Troops team came in first; the Hurd Auto Mall team, with the chairman of our board, Josh Vanada, who won the award for the Longest Drive, came in third.

Left to Right: Here are some of our volunteers, including board member Kate Hyde of Springhill and Townplace Suites; our President Jack Lank, his daughter Jessica Crossman of member Micorp, and volunteer Ann Friedman; golfers waiting for the shot gun start.

Left to right: the JDV Productions team came in second and we have no idea what is going on here, but they look like they are having fun.

Here's some of the crowd at Thursday night's event with the Neponset Regional Chamber and the Metro South Chamber.
