Jo Reinert To Serve As Interim Curator Of Modern And Contemporary Art

We are excited to announce that Jo Reinert, currently our Registrar and Collections Manager, has taken on the role of Interim Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art. Jo’s work at the Museum inherently spans several departments. She coordinates the Ulrich’s exhibitions, recommends new acquisitions, manages all aspects of collection stewardship, and is currently curating shows for the 2024 and 2025 exhibition cycles, on which she’s been working for a year and a half.

"It's a great honor to step into this role, especially as the Ulrich enters into its 50th Anniversary celebration years," said Reinert. "Because the Ulrich is already my home, I know its strengths very well, and I eagerly look forward to leveraging those strengths to create artistic programming, grow our world-class collection, and build on our student-centered, community-connected, and inclusion-focused initiatives."

Jo has held roles at Elkhorn Valley Museum, Tyler Museum of Art, and the San Antonio Museum of Art, and brings to her practice years of exhibitions work, having served as curator, organizing curator, or curatorial researcher and interpretive writing contributor, for more than 20 shows. Jo has presented research at the Midwest Art History Society's annual conference, and she holds an MA in Art History from the University of Texas at Tyler.

“Jo Reinert is such a great asset to our team, and her contributions to the Ulrich have consistently impressed me," said Ulrich Executive and Creative Director Vivian Zavataro. "Working alongside her over the past year on our upcoming exhibitions to celebrate our 50th anniversary, has been a pleasure. Her remarkable work-ethic, deep understanding of contemporary art and curatorial practices, dedication, as well as her creative approach to exhibitions and programming are exemplary. I am genuinely excited about her curatorial endeavors into the future.”
