Government and Politics

December 8, 2022

From: Town of Plymouth

Plymouth’s Department of Public Works (“DPW”) seeks to notify residents and visitors that the Town will undertake a sewer system replacement project on Water Street, beginning the week of December 5, 2022. The work will be limited to Water Street, on the section between South Park Avenue and the State Pier.

Northern Construction Service, LLC of Palmer, Massachusetts will perform the work as the Town’s contractor.  Work will typically occur during weekdays (Monday through Friday), between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Some Saturday work may occur. No work will occur on holidays.

Construction is scheduled to begin on Thursday, December 8, 2022, and is expected to be completed by May 29, 2023, prior to final paving on Water Street. Work will begin at the rotary on Water Street.

During construction, please expect to be inconvenienced by traffic delays, detours, uneven/settling trenches, parking restrictions, and elevated noise levels. Please follow the detour signs that are installed along the project area. Traffic detours will be modified as construction progresses towards the State Pier. Please see the map for the first detour pattern that is anticipated to be in place starting December 12, 2022.

The Town and the Contractor will make every effort possible to minimize disturbances to residents, businesses, pedestrians, and motorists in the Water Street area throughout the duration of this project.  All businesses will remain open during construction.

The Town appreciates the community’s patience and support during this important sewer system improvement project.  Questions may be directed to the Town’s Wastewater Manager, Doug Pinard at (508) 830-4159, extension 14213 during normal business hours, 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
